New Layout Video Tutorial

I worked on the voiceover for this tutorial today and it has only taken a couple of hours to finalise and upload it to You Tube.  Actually less time than I thought it might as all the kids are off school so I am pretty sure the internet is in demand right now!

This tutorial looks at a way to make the most of great double-sided scrapbook papers.  There is also a fun way to make faux enamel brads.  It looked so realistic when I had finished that I forgot until I did the voice over that I had faked the brads as I didn't have enough in my stash!

I also show you how to make a pocket for a tag to add more photos and journaling to a layout.  I am using three papers from the fab Bo Bunny Anthem collection but you could use any coordinating papers from your collection to make a similar layout.

On Safari with Bo Bunny Zoology

Take one round papermache box and some fab Bo Bunny Zoology papers and this is what I came up with!  One cute safari hut which tuned out to be the perfect place to keep our photos of a wonderful day visiting the Animal Kingdom park in Disney World.

I made a circular mini mixing and matching all the fun animal prints and stickers in the collection.   I think that the paper packs we treat ourselves to (every now and then!!!) are perfect for mini albums like these as they already coordinate so you can concentrate on the elements that make your project fun.

I turned the lid of the box into a straw roof and it took a while!!  I love the effect though - well worth the time spent next to the guillotine covered in multi medium!

I added lots of little hiding places for photographs and journaling.  Inside the lid made a perfect frame.  Here is Callum making friends!

Each of the pages of the mini has a large photo on one side and a pocket to tuck more photographs with journalling so I was able to really document a fun packed and magical family outing.

I will always remember the happy time we had.  Here is Callum High Fiving with a huge Bunny!!!!  I know that Callum will love this memento of our trip and will have fun showing it to his children one day.

BoBunny Anthem Card

Here is a fun card tutorial that can be adapted for any striped double-sided papers you may have.  I am using the gorgeous BoBunny Anthem Papers.

This design works best with a broader striped paper that has a definite pattern on the reverse as this gorgeous paper does here.  I love the dimension created by rolling back alternate stripes.

I am going to try this on a scrapbook layout - Watch this space!!!  Hope you enjoy the tutorial.

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Kraft

I am posting this in the moonlight as the clock tick tocks into the early hours of Sunday!  I have been waiting for hours for a tutorial I made for this layout to upload!

I made this layout to take part in the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge and this weeks theme is anything Kraft.  As I looked through all lovely Design Team projects it was Anita's creative layout that caught my eye and really made me think that I don't tend to do anything inky on my layouts other than the odd inked edge or two!  So here is where her inspiration led me!

I really liked creating the misty effect by sprinkling on embossing powders - free styling!  You have to be careful not to blow them all over your craft room but it adds great texture and is the perfect background for my Daisy Trail!

How perfectly does that Bo Bunny blue match my dress!!!  I designed it and made it myself many moons ago (1990 ish!)  I even made fabric flowers for my hair slide - if only I knew then what I know now!!!!  I could have started my own company.........;-)

Looking at this photograph I remember that my hubby always used to moan on those hot summer's evenings (in Cyprus) that the ladies had the best deal because we could wear sleeveless dresses and sandals when the men all had to wear full mess kit.  I pointed out that his shoes were at least flat so he didn't suffer with sore feet from too much dancing the night away - mind you those long dresses did cover up the fact that many of us kicked off our glamourous heels half way through the ball!!!

As you can see I have yet to journal on my tag so I think I may add this little memory of the nights we could dance until dawn and not need a week to recover!!

Where Has the Time Gone?

I can't believe that it has been over a week since I last posted!  I have been busy crafting but it wasn't something I could share just yet!!!

Here is something I can.  This afternoon I have scrapbooked some old family photos of my husband on his Christening day.  I used some of my papers from the Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection.  They are perfect for that pretty vintage look that goes so well with old sepia coloured photographs.

I used half of the Gabrielle Mocha Die cut to make a flap ......mmm should something that looks so pretty be called a flap????  I wanted to be able to add the story of the Christening so I needed room and as you can see here I now have plenty and I had room to add a couple more photos.  One is of Ivan on the shoulders of his Dad in Hong Kong and one is of Ivan's Mum looking radiant carrying Ivan's brother Mark.  I just love looking at the fashions in these old photos.  The proud parents look so dapper but apparently they were wearing borrowed clothes as a suitcase had gone missing and that is the story I am going to journal about.

Looking at this picture here I am thinking that the Promenade paper I used to back the die cut is a little dark and overpowering compared to the muted tones of the rest of the layout so I may just tone it down a little with some cream paint before I journal on it.  I had fun weaving paper strips through a lacy punched border on my main page which is Gabrielle Stripe.....well it is on the other side anyway!!  I just love the colours of this collection and the lovely butterflies that pop up here and there.  So as usual this layout goes into the 'still to be journaled pile!'  This time though I do have the excuse I am going to get the story of Ivan's Christening from my Mother in Law so it will have to wait a little while until she visits us.  Well that's my excuse ;-)

I had a wander in the garden just before I came in to post this and I couldn't resist taking these photos.

Look at this fabulous Peony.  It is almost like two flowers in one.  I am going to challenge myself to make one of these in paper so watch this space!!

This one is about to open.  All the fluffy centre is still hidden from view.  I love Peonies but it isn't very often that they stay upright as they normally get battered by wind and rain!  That soon makes these huge blooms droop on their stems.

We've got quite a few buds as you can see and the weather is fine (touch wood) so we may get our best display yet!

Oh and look who is coming to say hello!  It is the chief maker of patches in the lawn!  Doesn't he know he is a boy dog?????  Actually the lawn looks good in this photo but you can see one patch middle right.  Do you think Comet wants to play?  He prefers tug of war to fetch.....I don't think he realises he is a Retriever either!!!!!  I think he knows he is cute though ;-)

Tidy Up Time!

I am not the worlds biggest fan of housework but for some reason when I have to tidy my craft room - you know.....when I am down to my last postage stamp of creative space!.....I don't seem to mind it at all.  I think it is because it is great to rummage through all my lovely stash as I tidy it away.  I quite often am reminded of things that I think I would like to use again but I also find the projects I have put on the back burner and this time I found this.

I bought it a while ago from the Range (a store that sells everything for the home....and craft stuff too!). It is a pretty wire heart with clips to tuck photos or memorabilia into.  So to take a break from the cleaning and tidying I set to and used it to display photos of my families trip to New York.  We went in 2009-2010 so it was about time!!

I sense a theme here as I found some gorgeous Bo Bunny Liberty Papers and embellishments I bought from my friend Jackie over at Craft Island.  I have had them quite a while too ;-)  So they have had their admiring and stroking time and finally I have used them to do this.

I am feeling very virtuous right now as my finished project is even hanging on the wall.  Sorry the photos aren't perfect but the light today is a bit dull.  I think the skies are heavy with snow again.

I really enjoyed putting this together and it turned out to be a great way to document a holiday.

I made little displays to put into the photo clips so it didn't use much paper but it was a lovely way to make the most of embellishments like this journaling shape which I added a sparkly brad to and a sticker to go with my photo and journalling.  There is also a fancy brad which I added to the heart using my hot glue gun.

I made my own flowers to make extra embellishments.  Layering up flowers is a great way to bring a colour scheme together.  The large flower is made from two white flowers (thank you Barbara), a denim flower I die cut using Tattered Florals.  Then I made a ribbon rosette with some pretty gingham ribbon and used a Bo Bunny brad to tie the whole thing together.  Easy Peasy but so cute.

I tied on coordinating ribbon bows too.  If you wanted to ring the changes you could chose to adhere the flowers and embellishments to the hearts with sticky dots but I think I will keep this as a permanent and I hope you agree pretty reminder of a wonderful family holiday.......I wonder if The Range still have these in stock?????

I hope that everyone that is in the UK is enjoying the snow and of course anyone else that has snow right now.  I love going out in it and I love sitting cozy indoors crafting or watching movies so it is win win for me!  Hubby is going to take me out for lunch so I will finish my post now and see you later.

PS  I still haven't finished tidying!!!!!!
