Arty Card Tutorial (one for the boys and one for the girls)

Hi Everyone

Hope you are all having a fun weekend.  I am sharing a tutorial with you today.  I think this is an easy card to try your hand at but it is really effective.  The thing I like most about it is that you can mix and match the supplies you have to achieve a look based on my design which I love because it means it it versatile.

As you can see all you need to do is change the colours and it is suitable for a girl or boy, young man or young woman.  It would be fab for someone who loves to paint too.  Check out the tutorial and try it out for yourself.

Cutting Guide:

Card Base Teal or Pink - 11 1/2" x 8" scored at 5 3/4" (Cut 1)
Large frame Navy or Purple (inside and out) - 5 1/4" x 7 1/2" (Cut 2)
White Card (inside and out) - 5 1/8" x 7 3/8" (Cut 2)
Greeting White Card - 2 1/2" x 1" (Cut 1)
Greeting Frame Navy or Purple - 2 3/8" x 1 1/8" (Cut 1)

If you do have a go at this card I would love to see what you have come up with so don't forget to let me know.  Here is the video tutorial.

I want to try a pastel version and it was whilst I was thinking about that I decided I really should sort out my paints!  I have had some of them for years and it is time to have a clear out.  That is my afternoon sorted!

What a higgledy piggledy mess!!!!  Some of these paints are older than Callum!  But it will have to wait a little while as there is a bacon sandwich with my name on it!!!!

Have a fab weekend and thank you for popping by X

  2. I've just watched your video on Youtube, Helen, and this is just gorgeous! I love both the colour schemes, and can think of lots of different ones to try. This is definitely a project I want to have a go at and can think of lots of different uses for this type of technique. Thanks for sharing it step by step. Layers Rule OK!

As for your paint cupboard, it is a work of art in itself! A celebration of Glorious Randomness lol! No doubt one day you will sort it into boring (but practical) order!!! I'm afraid my whole ARTHaven is in a state of Glorious Randomness at the moment because I just dumped everything in there out of the way so that I could clear the table to do some dyeing yesterday. Too tired today to go and tidy it all away!

Hope you've had a good weekend, and that you are now feeling better from your cold. My poor hubby's feeling rotten at the moment. There's a lot of it about, despite the eventual onset of spring.

    1. Hi Shoshi - still feeling a little fuzzy round the edges but I am glad things don't seem to be deteriorating - a couple of early nights and lie ins should do the trick! Hip Hip Hooray for the Easter Holidays - no 6.30 start for me tomorrow.

I hope you hubby is putting his feet up - a hot toddy and chocolate…..just what the doctor ordered.

Shoshi I have finished tidying my paint cupboard but I feel like I should have left it……a celebration of glorious randomness….great phrase and I think I am going to use it on my hubby next time the house needs tidying……what do you think ;-)

I look forward to seeing your interpretation of my card Shoshi - I know you are going to make it your own and I would love to see what you come up with. Maybe a spot of zentangle instead of stamping…..

      Hugs

  3. Lol Helen - yes, do use the phrase "a celebration glorious randomness" on your hubby - it's a good excuse lol lol!!!

Today I did my interpretation of your fabulous card - here's the link:

Never thought of doing Zentangle with it but I had been thinking vaguely of incorporating Zentangle into some mixed media pieces somthing like this.

Glad you are feeling better. My hubby has been working and not resting - but typical man, he's very selective about what he feels well enough to do ha ha!!

I'm feeling thoroughly spiffed after a fabby session in my ARTHaven making this card. Can't wait to hear what you think of it!!!

    Hugs,
    Shoshi

  4. Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog, Helen, and I am so glad you liked my effort with your card design! I enjoyed doing it so much, despite thinking on odd occasions, "I don't like this!" However, perseverence won the day and in the end I was very satisfied with it. My desk isn't too much a celebration of glorious randomness because I've had a bit of a tidy up in there today, at least in one work zone but I can't say any more for now - it's a surprise! Keep an eye on my blog for the arrival of the much trumpeted Exciting News!!

If you can't spot my "duh" moment then perhaps it isn't too bad - if anyone could spot it, I'd have thought it would be you lol!! It's a lot more obvious with the lifesize card than on the photos but I see it every time I look at the finished card!

I'm glad you like my knitting too. It started life as a beautiful knitted dress, which I bought over 30 years ago and had so much wear out of it. Eventually I could no longer get into it, but could never bear to part with it, and then got the brainwave of unravelling it and reknitting it to give it a whole new lease of life! I am no longer worried about running out of colours because I now know that I can dye any colour I want, in any quantity. What freedom!

Thanks again for all the incredible inspiration!
    Hugs,
    Shoshi
